Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family and she moved overseas when she was three. Summer was educated in American as well as British schools, while her family moved abroad. She returned to Pasadena, California just shy of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was only five years old when she discovered her passion for acting and enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months later, Summer signed with an agent and an agent and started to pursue her goal full-time. She attends college on her own time, and is working on her degree. She was one of the young stars featured in Vanity fair's August 2008 cover feature, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Most Hot Kids in Hollywood". When she was 14, Bishil started acting classes. In just an entire year, she was hired by a manager and agency. Bishil started her career on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed to an agreement with a management and an agency. Her breakthrough role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the book of the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate she said that Bishil's performance was "the most genuine thing" in an film that was, despite the best intentions it was utterly fake and a little embarrassing. It was something like an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist for a newspaper, said that Bishil "...is one of the most talented natural actresses on film in recent times. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is the "...newcomer has an impressive and sassy performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was chosen to portray Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and was planned to be the protagonist of the unproduced but planned sequel.
