Jennifer Carpenter Bio

American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter is a December 7, 1979, native. She is most well-known for her roles in the roles of Debra Morgan and Rebecca Harris in Showtime's Dexter. She was chosen to play Erica Shepherd, a leading role in NBC's drama The Enemy Within. Carpenter gained first critical recognition for her performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose. She took home the 2006 MTV Movie Award for "Best Frightened Performance" as well as a "Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award". She was named Breakout Performer at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They eloped on the night of New Year's Eve in California and publicly appeared together for the first time as a married couple at the 66th Golden Globe Awards in January 2009. Hall and Carpenter released their December 2010 statement in which they announced that they had filed for divorce after being separated "for some time". The divorce was finalized in December 2011 due to unresolved disagreements. But, the couple remain close friends. Carpenter and Seth Avett, musician, were announced as married and expecting their first child on February 10, 2015. Carpenter revealed in August 2015 that she had given birth to one son in May, and was eight and a half months pregnant when she was filming the pilot episode on Limitless. Carpenter and Avett were married in May of 2016.
